We started Höfuðborg Excursions in 2017 after a decade working as private drivers for embassies and visiting heads of state. What we learned there — discretion, punctuality, and knowing every short cut around Reykjavík — is now the backbone of how we run our Golden Circle, city walking, and Blue Lagoon transfers today. Our fleet is small, modern, and immaculate. Twelve vehicles, all under two years old, all serviced at Bílaumboðið Askja by the same technicians who maintain the prime minister's motorcade. Every driver is cleared for VIP transport, speaks at least three languages, and has passed the Icelandic Tourist Guide Association exam on Icelandic Saga-era history — because a Golden Circle tour should come with real storytelling, not a recycled script. We operate exclusively in the capital region and the Reykjanes peninsula. Keflavík airport transfers, Blue Lagoon packages, the classic Golden Circle, Reykjavík city walking tours, and private evening runs to the Sky Lagoon. If you want to go further — say, the south coast — we will happily refer you to friends at Eldfjall Expeditions, because sticking to what we do best is how we keep the fleet, the drivers, and the service the way they are.

The smoothest route from Reykjavík or the airport to the Blue Lagoon — Premium entry included, with a private changing area, two face masks, a drink in the in-water bar, and a bathrobe you get to take with you.
A two-hour stroll through the city's working fishing port, its Viking-era settlement, the iconic Harpa concert hall, and the neighbourhoods that birthed Björk, Sigur Rós, and the Icelandic Sagas.
Iceland's most beloved day trip — but done the Höfuðborg way. Small groups in a luxury 8-seater, locally-sourced lunch at a Skyr farm, and a hidden hot-spring soak away from the cruise-ship crowds.

The transfer itself was flawless — Mercedes V-Class with leather seats, our driver knew exactly when to leave so we avoided the airport rush, and dropping us at KEF afterwards with a bathrobe I could actually bring home was a fun touch. The Lagoon was still too crowded at midday even in shoulder season, which pulled the experience down a bit — this is on the Lagoon, not Höfuðborg. If you're going, this is the right way to go. If you can, go early morning.
A nicely paced introduction to Reykjavík. Our guide Sól knew her saga history but also her restaurant scene — we got a tip for a hole-in-the-wall lamb place in Grandi that ended up being the best meal of the trip. The Hallgrímskirkja elevator was a great inclusion. Wish the bakery stop had been slightly longer (Brauð & Co was overwhelmed when we arrived at 15:00) — consider booking a table? Otherwise lovely.
We'd been dreading the Golden Circle after reading about the crowds, but Magnús's small-group version was a completely different experience. Eight people in a beautiful V-Class, a proper hour at each site, and the Secret Lagoon at the end is an inspired choice — almost no-one else there compared to the zoo at Blue Lagoon. The skyr ice cream at Efstidalur was the best thing we ate in Iceland. Will recommend to everyone.
