Driving from Reykjavik to Jokulsarlon glacier lagoon takes at least 5 hours. The journey offers some amazing attractions, so we advise travelers to arrive the day before the tour so they can explore them along the way. Jeans are not recommended for glacier activities, but warm, layered clothes are. By upgrading to an Extended Glacier Experience, you will add an extra hour on the glacier, with around 30 minutes of glacier hiking and 30 minutes exploring crystal-blue crevasses and moulins. This extends the total tour length to 4 hours, allowing you to witness a stunning ice cave and glacier formations up close in one trip. The meeting point is the commercial bus parking area at Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon. Look for the large Guide to Iceland sign, about 15 metres directly south of the public restrooms. Parking at the lagoon is paid. Please arrive 15 minutes before departure and use the restrooms beforehand, as there are none on the glacier. The minimum age is 8 years, and guests should be comfortable walking for at least an hour in total. Waterproof hiking shoes are a good idea, as the ground can be muddy after heavy rain.
